Climate deniers are a special breed, with an uncanny ability to twist their own logic into pretzels rather than face reality. No matter what you say, you won’t convince them of anything. BUT…
When they post some inane denialist trope on a discussion thread, I don’t like to leave it unchallenged. Usually I don’t get in a protracted argument with them, but I try to make the first response under theirs a link to a clear explanation why they’ve missed the target. AND it should be from a reliable source.
There are many such pages. Some do not resist the temptation for polemics, while others get so technical that actual readership goes down. But some of them strike a good balance, and I thought it would be helpful to post a few here as a reference.
- MIT: Climate Primer – Climate knowledge for everyone
- Jackson School of Geosciences at University of Texas in Austin: Climate myths: Jackson School sets the record straight. Eight common climate myths, each presented as a single, linkable page.
- Jackson School of Geosciences Climate & Environment site
- Yale University Climate Connection
- University of Missouri Center For Tree Ring Science
I’ll add to the list as I come across more good climate pages.
